On the 1st of July as a part of Media literacy project that is supporting by Lithuanian Counsil for Culture Larysa Sydorenko, a participant of this scholarship together with a journalist, writer, winner of the scholarship of the German cultural institution working with intercultural projects in Central and Eastern Europe and the Scholarship of the City Clerk held the English Speaking Club in the American Corner of the Klaipeda County Ieva Simonaitytė Public Library.
Our lithuanian and ukrainian participants discussed the topic «Modern journalism».
At the beginning of the event participants introduced themselves and shared one piece of news that is important in your life. Then they were discussing different ways for getting news, different news sources and how reliable are they as news sources. Also they were talking how to choose a magazine or newspaper for reading, differences between publications in magazines and newspapers, why news channels control by people, should newspapers be allowed to write anything they want, сan fake brings problems for a person and community and what can we do about it.
At the end of the meeting, all participants had a chance to get answers to the questions they were interested in.

Liepos 1 d. vyko anglų kalbos klubo susitikimas, kurį organizavo bibliotekos darbuotoja Larysa Sydorenko. Susitikime svečiavosi Klaipėdos miesto raštininkė Sonya Winterberg. Dalyviai iš Lietuvos ir Ukrainos diskutavo tema „Šiuolaikinė žurnalistika“.
Renginio pradžioje dalyviai susipažino ir kiekvienas pasidalino svarbia asmenine naujiena iš savo gyvenimo. Tada buvo diskutuojame apie įvairius naujienų kanalus, skirtingus naujienų šaltinius ir jų patikimumą. Taip pat buvo kalbama apie tai, kaip pasirinkti žurnalą ar laikraštį skaitymui, apie žurnalų ir laikraščių publikacijų skirtumus, kodėl naujienų kanalus kontroliuoja žmonės, ar laikraščiams turėtų būti leista rašyti ką tik nori, ar netikra informacija gali sukelti problemų žmogui ir bendruomenei ir ką galime dėl to padaryti.
Susitikimo pabaigoje visi dalyviai turėjo galimybę gauti atsakymus į jiems rūpimus klausimus.
